EUPHROSYNE · ΕΥΦΡΟΣΥΝΗ
A retreat on the radical practice of enjoying what is here.
Syros, Greece
May 29 — June 4, 2027Euphrosyne is the Ancient Greek word for joy, gladness and good cheer, and the name of one of the Three Graces, goddesses associated with beauty, generosity, pleasure and celebration.
The Graces were rarely imagined alone. They danced together, feasted, celebrated and moved through a world of giving and receiving. Their joy was something experienced through beauty, connection and participation in life.
For one week on Syros, we want to explore what that might look like for us today. In a culture that’s so focused on self-optimization there is something almost radical about allowing ourselves to say:
this is good. Let me actually be here for it and savor it.
Through practice, shared meals, conversation, and time in stunning nature, Euphrosyne is an invitation to allow ourselves to feel JOY and bask in the beauty and wonder that are always already so abundant in our lives.
LOCATION
Syros is a small Cycladic island shaped by the sea, centuries of migration and an unusual mix of grand neoclassical architecture and quiet coastal life. People have been finding their way to its shores for thousands of years, they crossed the Aegean to trade here, sailors stopped along its coast and carved prayers for safe journeys into the rocks, and communities settled and built their lives on the island.
For this retreat, our home will be a beautiful neoclassical villa near the coast. Several beaches are within around 15 minutes on foot, and they won’t be crowded by other tourists.
Hosting Euphrosyne on an island with so many layers of life behind it feels really special. We believe this place holds a very special kind of energy that will remind us of the importance of being present, being in community, and enjoying life.
“I’m taking away a renewed determination to be less passive in my own life. The retreat triggered something in me and showed me parts I had forgotten: I want to speak up more, to do more of what I genuinely enjoy, and to be less afraid of showing up as myself. It also helped me see certain parts of myself more clearly, including aspects I currently struggle with and perhaps do not like that much.”

THE VILLA
We’ll have this entire beauty of a villa for ourselves. There are so many spaces to gather for practice, meals and long evenings together, and just as many to disappear to when you want some time alone. You can read somewhere in the garden, spend an afternoon by the private pool, take a nap, find some shade and journal, or walk down to one of the nearby beaches for a swim.
That balance is important to us. You can be part of the group without having to be around people all day, and you can take time for yourself without having to leave the retreat to find it.
And because the villa and its surroundings are genuinely beautiful, staying in feels just as inviting as going out to explore. It gives us exactly what we want for this week: room for practice and community, but also for curiosity, spontaneity, rest and plenty of doing absolutely nothing.

“Each practice supported me in a different but complementary way. The physical movement helped me feel more present and alive while breathwork and meditation gave me moments of stillness and clarity. Journaling helped to reflect on what was shifting emotionally and it allowed me to see if I was truly honest with myself.”

Absolutely! The retreat will be held in English but together the instructors speak 6+ languages. Most participants will not have English as their first language and it's always fun to find ways to communicate outside of our own language.

This retreat is designed as a space for personal exploration, rest, and connection, both individually and within the group. To support this, we ask that participants come on their own—without pets or children—so that everyone can fully immerse themselves in the experience. We appreciate your understanding.
